2011 Integrity & Human Rights Conference Features PVAO's Anti-Corruption Success

The Philippine Veterans Affairs Office is truly making waves with its integrity development efforts, as its anti-corruption success was featured in the Third Integrity and Human Rights Conference last December 14, 2011 at the Eastwood Richmonde Hotel in Libis, Quezon City.

Administrator Ernesto G. Carolina shared PVAO's integrity development milestones before an international audience, other government agencies and civil society groups that are human rights & anti-corruption advocates.

Organized by the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) and the Office of the Ombudsman (OMB) in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the conference is held in celebration of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

With the theme, "Karapatan Kontra Katiwalian," Administrator Carolina was given an opportunity to cite experiences, lessons and achievements in PVAO's efforts in combating corruption.

The conference aims to stregthen a multi-stakeholder unity, to create a multiplier effect in the fight against corruption and the promotion og human rights. It also aims to raise awarenss on corruption and human rights, in the conceptual and practical terms and to establish linkages between these subjects by exposing the debilitating effect of corruption on human rights that weakens government's ability to fulfill the economic, social and cultural rights of the people, especially of the poor and the marginalized.
