PVAO’s Cavite Medical Mission Serves Veterans and Legal Dependents
25 February 2017—A medical and dental mission was held at the Heracleo Alano Naval Base, Sangley Point, Cavite City by the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) and Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) in partnership with the Veterans Federation of the Philippines (VFP), AFP Medical Center, Army General Hospital, and Cavite City Government among other sponsors. PVAO-VMMC Conduct Joint Medical Mission in Rizal Province
24 February 2017, Ynares Center, Antipolo, Rizal—The Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) and the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) conducted a medical mission and the Veterans Hospitalization and Medical Care Program (VHMCP) Info-Drive with a theme “Hatid na Serbisyong Medikal… Alay sa Magigiting na Bayani ng Bayan.” This served around 250 veterans and their families in the Antipolo and nearby areas.
TWC Conducts Ocular Inspections, On-Site Meetings
22 February 2017—Members of the Technical Working Committee (TWC) for the Observance of the 2017 Philippine Veterans Week and 75th Araw ng Kagitingan conducted ocular visits and on-site meetings in the two areas of engagements – the Mt. Samat National Shrine in Pilar, Bataan, and the Capas National Shrine in Capas, Tarlac.
EDSA Revolution at 31
22 February 2017, Taguig City—The EDSA Revolution’s 31stanniversary was commemorated at the Libingan Ng Mga Bayani as joined by the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office headed by its Administrator, Undersecretary Ernesto G. Carolina. Various veterans leaders and veterans organizations were also present and representatives from the three major services of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Memorare-Manila Commemorated with PVAO
18 February 2017—The Philippine Veterans Affairs Office took part to honor the civilian casualties of the Battle of Manila at the Plazuela de Sta. Isabel, Intramuros. The invitation for LtGen. Ernesto G. Carolina AFP (Ret.), PVAO Administrator, came from the Memorare-Manila 1945 Foundation, Inc., which organizes the annual event, an observance that began in 1992.

DND-PVAO Celebrates 72nd Liberation of Parañaque
04 February 2017— The 72nd Anniversary and Commemoration of the Liberation of Parañaque was celebrated at the Parañaque Veterans Memorial Monument Ninoy Aquino Avenue, San Diego, Parañaque City. PVAO annually joins in celebrating the liberation of the City of Parañaque since it is a victory shared with the liberation of the City of Manila. Parañaque served as the base of the 11th American Airborne Division with the Filipino soldiers.

PMA First Four Gets PVAO Updates

This annual event serves as an opportunity for the first four classes of PMA after the World War II to get together and bond.

Funds for Veterans’ Disability Pension Released
President Duterte announced before his 100th day in office that he will release the Total Administrative Disability (TAD) of PVAO (Philippine Veterans Affairs Office) veterans who are 80 years old and above and their surviving spouses. TAD was held by the previous administration, for whatever reasons, only former president Benigno Aquino III can answer.

Czech Officers Lay Wreath To Honor Fallen Heroes
30 September 2016, Capas, Tarlac—A wreath-laying ceremony for the Czechoslovak heroes was held in Camp O’Donnell, Capas, Tarlac. These Czechoslovak heroes were Jan Bzoch, Pavel Fuchs, Leo Herman, Jaroslav Hrdina, Fred Lenk, Josef Varak, and Antonin Volny. They fought as part of Bataan Defense during World War II (1942-1944).

PVAO Confers Awards To Outstanding Employees
19 September 2016, PVAO Compound—Recognizing the good work of its current as well as former employees, the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) conferred awards to several personnel. The awardees were carefully chosen by a selection board and they were selected because they exemplified the ideals of kagitingan and love for country that our veterans have demonstrated. The awards had four categories: retired employees, posthumous awardees, model supervisors, and model employees.
PVAO Presents Free Screening of Sakay
16 September 2016, AFP Theater—The Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) organized a free block screening of “Sakay”, a 1993 Filipino historical drama film about the story of General Macario Leon Sakay, a Filipino patriot and hero who was declared an outlaw and criminal for continuing hostilities against the United States after the official end of the Philippine-American War. Unknown to many, Sakay is a true general of a revolutionary society, a true patriot.

June 12 is one of the most significant dates in Philippine history as it is the day that the nation celebrates the 118th anniversary of the proclamation of its independence from the decades of Spanish rule. Digitized World War II Records Launched
25 April 2016, AFP Museum, Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City—The Philippine Veterans Affairs Office, in collaboration with the Filipino War Veterans Foundation Inc., officially launched to the general public the digitized surviving records of Filipino soldiers and guerillas during World War II that were retrieved from the Philippine Collection of the US National Archives and Records Administration in Maryland, USA.

16 WWII Veterans Honored in “Paggunita sa Capas”
10 April 2016, Capas, Tarlac—16 veterans were given recognition during the celebration of Paggunita sa Capas, an annual gathering of veterans that gives tribute to all Filipino and American soldiers who perished during the infamous Bataan Death March that culminated in Camp O’ Donnell in April 1942. Around 25,000 Filipino and 6,000 American soldiers succumbed to death during the said Death March due to sickness, brutal treatment, deprivation, and hardships of war.

SEC. GAZMIN APPROVES VFP CONSTITUTION & AND-LAWS
Sec. Voltaire T. Gazmin of the Department of National Defense (DND) approved on 25 June 2013 the Constitution and By-Laws (CBL) of the Veterans Federation of the Philippines (VFP) pursuant to Republic Act No. 2640, the Act that created the VFP as a public corporation, mandating the promulgation of a CBL to be approved by the Secretary who has direct control and supervision of the Federation.

Sixty-nine years after the end of World War II, Aklanon veterans received their hard-earned and well-deserved War Medals during the unveiling of the bronze monument of their leader, the late General Macario Peralta, Jr. of the 6th Military District, last July 30, 2013 at the Provincial Capitol Grounds in Kalibo, Aklan.

WW2 Vets Get Their TAD Arrears
About 18,000 living World War 2 veterans finally got their Total Administrative Disability (TAD) pension arrearages for the years 1994 to 2002 after President Benigno S. Aquino III authorized the release of Php3.1 Billion for the purpose.

TAD Arrears Payment to WW2 Vets Released
President Benigno S. Aquino III has authorized the release of Php3.1 Billion to pay the Total Administrative Disability (TAD) pension arrearages to about 18,000 World War 2 veterans covering the period 1994 to 2002.

Uniformed and allied services personnel boosted participation in the Philippine Government Service Booths during the 115th Anniversary Commemoration of the Philippine Independence at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila whereby people visiting Rizal Park and nearby offices were given assistance and instant services by the various participating agencies on 11-12 June 2013.
