PVAO, Iloilo Honors Panay Liberation Veterans
8 March 2017, Balantang Memorial Cemetery National Shrine—Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) Administrator Ernesto G. Carolina, representing Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, together with the local government of Iloilo, memorialized and honoured the sacrifices and heroic deeds of those, who fought from the lines of Panay resistance movements.

17 March 2017, Iloilo Provincial Capitol Grounds—The Philippine Veterans Affairs Office led by Administrator Usec. Ernesto G. Carolina joined the City Government of Iloilo in celebrating the 13th Iloilo Veterans Memorial Day, with the theme “Honoring Our Unsung Heroes.”

13 March 2017, PVAO Compound—DIWA Partylist Representative Emmeline Aglipay-Villar was PVAO’s Guest Speaker for the Gender and Development Advocacy Talk Series in connection with National Women’s Month celebration. She leads the 17th Congress’ Committee on Women and Gender Empowerment and has authored and co-authored 55 laws among which are the Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Act.
PVAO Administrator Commends Success of the AFPFC Multi-Purpose Cooperative

8 March 2017, Novotel Araneta Center—The Civil Service Commission (CSC) recognized the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) for obtaining Maturity Level II in four HR systems under the Program to Institutionalize Meritocracy and Excellence in Human Resource (PRIME-HRM).

PVAO’s Cavite Medical Mission Serves Veterans and Legal Dependents
25 February 2017—A medical and dental mission was held at the Heracleo Alano Naval Base, Sangley Point, Cavite City by the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) and Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) in partnership with the Veterans Federation of the Philippines (VFP), AFP Medical Center, Army General Hospital, and Cavite City Government among other sponsors. The Chief of Veterans Affairs Management Division, MGen. Alfredo Cayton AFP (Ret.), represented PVAO during the event.
PVAO-VMMC Conduct Joint Medical Mission in Rizal Province
24 February 2017, Ynares Center, Antipolo, Rizal—The Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) and the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) conducted a medical mission and the Veterans Hospitalization and Medical Care Program (VHMCP) Info-Drive with a theme “Hatid na Serbisyong Medikal… Alay sa Magigiting na Bayani ng Bayan.” This served around 250 veterans and their families in the Antipolo and nearby areas.
TWC Conducts Ocular Inspections, On-Site Meetings
22 February 2017—Members of the Technical Working Committee (TWC) for the Observance of the 2017 Philippine Veterans Week and 75th Araw ng Kagitingan conducted ocular visits and on-site meetings in the two areas of engagements – the Mt. Samat National Shrine in Pilar, Bataan, and the Capas National Shrine in Capas, Tarlac.
EDSA Revolution at 31
22 February 2017, Taguig City—The EDSA Revolution’s 31stanniversary was commemorated at the Libingan Ng Mga Bayani as joined by the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office headed by its Administrator, Undersecretary Ernesto G. Carolina. Various veterans leaders and veterans organizations were also present and representatives from the three major services of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Memorare-Manila Commemorated with PVAO
18 February 2017—The Philippine Veterans Affairs Office took part to honor the civilian casualties of the Battle of Manila at the Plazuela de Sta. Isabel, Intramuros. The invitation for LtGen. Ernesto G. Carolina AFP (Ret.), PVAO Administrator, came from the Memorare-Manila 1945 Foundation, Inc., which organizes the annual event, an observance that began in 1992.
PVAO Sets up Helpdesk for Veterans
17 February 2017, Philippine Military Academy, Fort Del Pilar, Baguio City – In coordination with the Philippine Military Academy (PMA), the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) has set up a Help Desk to allow PMA alumni who could not personally update their records at PVAO’s main office in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
DND-PVAO Celebrates 72nd Liberation of Parañaque
04 February 2017— The 72nd Anniversary and Commemoration of the Liberation of Parañaque was celebrated at the Parañaque Veterans Memorial Monument Ninoy Aquino Avenue, San Diego, Parañaque City. PVAO annually joins in celebrating the liberation of the City of Parañaque since it is a victory shared with the liberation of the City of Manila. Parañaque served as the base of the 11th American Airborne Division with the Filipino soldiers.
72nd Year Anniversary of the Battle of Manila Observed
03 February 2017, Freedom Triangle, ManilaCity Hall – The City Government of Manila marked the 72nd year Anniversary ofthe Battle of Manila led by Mayor Joseph Ejercito Estrada with this year’s theme, “Manila: Forward Ever, Backward Never”.
Batangeños Memorialize 72nd Anniversary of Nasugbu Landings
31 January 2017, Nasugbu Beach Park—The Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO), represented by MGen. Alfredo Cayton, Jr. (AFP) Ret, Chief of the Veterans Affairs Management Division (VAMD), joined the Local Government of Batangas in commemorating the 72nd anniversary of the Nasugbu landings and liberation, the historic amphibious landing of the Filipino and American Forces which “establish[ed] a line of advance on Manila from the southwest” that liberated Nasugbu.
1st Quarter Medical Mission Serves Veterans and Dependents

PVAO Convenes 3rd MSGC Meeting
18 January 2017, AFPCOC, Camp Aguinaldo—The Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) convened for the third time with its Multi-Sector Governance Council (MSGC), the council that supports PVAO in advancing its advocacies to improve the welfare of the veterans as embodied in the Kagitingan Roadmap 2022.
